With a population of 550+, it is a unique residential community, that offers an exceptional sense of community, within a 12-square block area. While being next door to larger cities such as Denver and Wheat Ridge, Mountain View is unique in its ability to concentrate heavily on public safety and bring residents together in a community atmosphere with town-wide events and offerings. The Town Clerk in Mountain View is appointed by Town Council and reports on a day-to-day basis to the Mayor who is also the Town Administrator. The core responsibilities are outlined in the Town Charter. The Town is committed to providing exceptional customer service to its predominantly residential community. This job requires mature discretion, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of people, including residents, businesses, property owners, staff, and elected or appointed officials. The primary goal is to deliver effective services to the community in a personable and friendly manner, while working harmoniously with a small team of co-workers in Town Hall. Responsibilities include administering elections, serving as the official keeper of the municipal records, attending evening Council Meetings as needed, producing meeting minutes, acting as agent for the Town and custodian of the Seal of the Town of Mountain View, assisting with public records requests, and occasionally being the face of the Town at the Town Hall reception desk. To succeed in this role, candidates need municipal clerk experience, excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure. Essential Duties Clerk Responsibilities • Attends all meetings of the Council. • Performs the role of the Parliamentarian for the Council Meetings (training provided, as necessary). • Assists with preparing the agenda and packet for Council meetings and work sessions. • Drafts minutes of the meetings. • Coordinates the codification of the • Ordinances as they are adopted. • Attends very occasional meetings of the Board of Adjustments and Appeals (BOAA) and prepares draft minutes for the body. Assist with preparing the agenda and packet for the BOAA. • Acts as the licensing body for business licenses and permits from the Town. • Election administration, as needed. • Support for the Town Court. Office Management • Works with other staff to manage the Town Hall office in support of a harmonious, team environment for all Town employees. • Support for the Town Records Management processes. Community Relations • Supports the Mayor in the Town goals to elevate the Town’s regional reputation and assists in the Town’s public relations objectives. • At the direction of the Mayor, assists with the Town Communication Plan, including outward and inward facing communication. • Attends occasional community events. Compensation Annual Salary Range (full-time, exempt 40 hours per week) $85,337 - $104,300 The Town of Mountain View takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
